Mercedes-Benz's global sales volume in August hits 50,000 in sales

According to the sales data released by the official website of Mercedes-Benz, in August, global sales of the Mercedes-Benz brand hit a monthly high of August, reaching 170,341 units, a year-on-year increase of 9%. In the first eight months of this year, the cumulative global sales of the Mercedes-Benz brand was 1,496,406 units, an increase of 12.8% over the same period of last year.

From a regional perspective, Mercedes sales in Europe hit a record high last month. In August, Mercedes-Benz delivered a total of 61,589 new cars in Europe, a year-on-year increase of 8.4%. Among them, Mercedes-Benz sold 25,155 vehicles in the domestic market in Germany, and sales in Sweden, Austria, Switzerland and other countries also set a new record.

In the sales of Mercedes-Benz’s three major regions, in August the Asia-Pacific region not only surpassed the other two major regions in terms of overall sales, but also the largest increase. Last month, Mercedes-Benz sold 73,264 vehicles in the region, a year-on-year increase of 18.9% from August last year. Among them, Mercedes-Benz sales in China in August even set a new record, delivery of 50,505 new cars, a year-on-year increase of 24.5%. As of the end of August, Mercedes-Benz sold 391,772 vehicles in China, up 32.8% from the same period of last year.

While both Europe and the Asia Pacific region have achieved growth, Mercedes-Benz has experienced a 7.7% decline in North America. The United States’ single-month sales slipped 10.7% year-on-year in August. The US luxury car sales championship failed to hold. In the first eight months of this year, Mercedes-Benz delivered a total of 254,606 new cars in North America, and cumulative sales in the United States were 213,242.

From a model perspective, August was the first full-sale month for the new S-Class sedan. Compared with the same period of last year, the sales volume of this model increased by 35% year-on-year. In September, the model will begin sales in China and will be listed on the US market in the coming weeks.

Last month, Mercedes-Benz's SUV models still maintained strong market demand, especially GLC and GLA. In terms of total volume, sales of Mercedes-Benz SUVs last month were 64,043 units, a year-on-year increase of 13.8%, setting a new monthly high in August. Among them, the cumulative sales volume of the GLK that has been listed since 2008 and the replacement of the GLC have reached 1 million.
