The Earnings Before Interest and Taxes (EBIT) of each business unit of Daimler's business grew. The Mercedes-Benz auto business unit rose 29.0% from EUR 1,251 million year-on-year to EUR 1,614 million. Daimler's truck business grew by 16.6% year-on-year from 530 million euros to 618 million euros. The Mercedes-Benz Vans van business segment grew by 15.8% year-on-year from 152 million euros to 176 million euros. Daimler Buses increased by 4.9% from EUR 61 million to 64 million EUR. Daimler's financial services business increased by 10.2% to 355 million euros from 322 million euros.
In the third quarter of 2014, Daimler’s free cash flow reached EUR 5.4 billion, excluding acquisitions and spin-offs, and free cash flow was EUR 2.9 billion, compared to EUR 1.6 billion in the same period of 2013.
Thanks to growth in markets such as China, as well as the momentum of new cars, Mercedes-Benz global sales in the third quarter of this year exceeded 412,000 vehicles, an increase of 12% year-on-year, setting the best level in the same period.
