Samsung Total Petrochemical Company announced on January 9 that it plans to invest KRW 2 trillion in a new aromatics complex and an ethylene-vinyl acetate (EVA) plant at its petrochemical plant in Dashan, Korea. According to the plan, the aromatics plant will be completed by September 2014 and the EVA plant will be completed by April 2014. The aromatics plant can produce approximately 1 million tons of paraxylene and 420,000 tons of benzene per year. The annual capacity of EVA plants is 240,000 tons. By then, the sales revenue of Samsung Total Petrochemical Company will increase dramatically from about 7 trillion won in 2011 to 12 trillion won in 2015.
