It is understood that since the Hubei Provincial Government signed a cooperation agreement with the China Guangdong Nuclear Power Group to develop a nuclear power project in Hubei in 2008, both parties have actively promoted the planning and installation of the 4 million kilowatts Xianning nuclear power project. At present, the floor of No. 1 and No. 2 units has been completed, and the major equipment contracts for nuclear islands and conventional islands have been signed. The design and project declaration work is being actively promoted, and conditions for starting the main works in 2011 are available.

While advancing the Xianning nuclear power project, China Guangdong Nuclear Power Group also carried out nuclear power plant site general election work in Surabaya, Yangxin and other places, assisted in the preparation of the first nuclear power medium and long-term development plan for Hubei Province, and promoted the nuclear power industrialization in Hubei Province. Development made arrangements.

The reporter learned from the Hubei Province's Expanding Opening Work Conference that Hubei will strive to start the construction of the Qishui nuclear power project during the “12th Five-Year Plan” period and carry out the preliminary work of the third nuclear power project outside the East Hubei Load Center. In addition, the province will also optimize the use of hydropower resources, build pumped-storage hydropower units in a timely manner, and focus on the development of biomass power generation and solar photovoltaic power generation.
