Gas turbine flowmeter selection should consider the following aspects:
1. Gas density:
For gas turbine flow meters, the effect of fluid properties is primarily gas density. It has a large impact on the meter factor and is mainly in the low flow area. If the gas density changes frequently, corrective measures should be taken for the flow coefficient of the flowmeter.
2. Flow range:
The choice of the flow range of the turbine flowmeter has a great influence on its accuracy and service life, and the flowmeter of each diameter has a certain measurement range, and the choice of the flowmeter diameter is also determined by the flow range. For intermittent work where the actual running time of the instrument does not exceed 8 hours, select 1.3 times of the maximum flow rate in actual use as the upper limit of the flow range; for continuous work where the daily running time of the instrument is not less than 8 hours, select the actual 1.4 times the maximum flow rate at the time of use as the upper limit of the flow range. The lower limit flow rate of the meter is 0.8 times the actual minimum flow rate.
3. Pressure loss:
Try to use a turbine flowmeter with low pressure loss.
4. Accuracy level:
Not the higher the better, the most important choice according to the actual situation! In general, the choice of turbine flowmeters is mainly due to its high precision. However, the higher the accuracy of the flowmeter, the more sensitive it is to changes in the field conditions. Therefore, the selection of the accuracy of the meter should be cautious and should be considered from an economic perspective. For trade settlement instruments for large-caliber gas pipelines, it is cost-effective to invest more in the instrument. For the case where the conveying amount is not large, the medium precision level can be selected.
5. Structure type:
(1) The internal structure should use a reverse thrust turbine flowmeter. Because the reverse push structure can make the impeller in a floating state within a certain flow range, there is no contact point in the axial direction, no end face friction and wear, and the service life of the bearing can be prolonged.
(2) According to the pipe connection method, the flow meter has two ways of horizontal and vertical installation. The horizontal installation and the pipe connection method are flange connection, screw connection and clamp connection. The medium diameter is flanged; the small diameter and high pressure pipe are threaded: the clamp connection is only suitable for low and medium diameter pipe; the vertical installation is only threaded.
(3) According to the environmental conditions, consider the influence of temperature and humidity. For natural gas metering, an intrinsically safe explosion-proof turbine flowmeter should be selected.
6. Bearing:
The bearings of the turbine flowmeter generally have three types of materials: tungsten carbide, polytetrafluoroethylene, and carbon graphite. Natural gas metering bearings should be made of tungsten carbide.
